I was writing a complaint email to Rogers cable ten tonight and it got longer and longer when I got totally sidetracked into pitching some show ideas. At some point I went "wow, wish I spent this much time updating my diary" and then I said "are you thinking what I'm thinking??". I was! So I am pasting the email in here, not because it's very interesting, but largely because I want to have this stuff on the record in case Rogers cable ten, CBS, NBC or someone else copy my ideas and swear they came up with them themselves. Here you are:
--------
(I cut out the paragraph complaining how I tried to enter this game show thing they had, but the thing was aired way too late, so I couldn't do so, blah blah.)
Also, who do I write to at ROGERS TELEVISION about a show idea? I want to host a show where various members of the community (local historians, politicians, etc.) come to my house (one per week) and cook me a meal, and then we play video games against each other, while discussing local matters. And if they beat me, (they definitely will, I'm no good at video games), they get a ROGERS TELEVISION sounvenir baseball hat, but mainly the show is about just learning about the region, it's history, culture, etc. Also people get to learn how to prepare meals that I like.
I have another show idea I think would really be a hit too: THE FIRST ANNUAL ROGERS TELEVISION HOLIDAY PIZZA PARTY! This would be a 2-hour long special where anyone from the Rogers audience could come down to your studios and we'd all order pizza and maybe play some holiday games (pin the tail on the reindeer, pass the parcel, etc.). This is the best part though: We'd also have pop! Anyone can have a pizza party with just pizza, but who wants to just eat pizza on it's own? It makes you so thirsty! But don't worry, Rogers audience, we have pop, and lots of it, and it's even sitting in styrofoam coolers full of ice! Everyone likes cold pop. This show would be great, we could have pizzas from all sorts of local pizzerias, maybe a roaming camera could go table to table asking everyone how they were enjoying their pizza, and they'd discuss it. Example:
HOST: "What is your name and how's the pizza?"
VIEWER/PIZZA EATER: "Hi, my name is Andrew and I love this pizza. It's from Super Pizza, and it has mushrooms and pepperoni on it. If I had to rate this pizza from one to ten, I've definitely give it a 9. What would make it a perfect ten? Maybe if I had another slice ha ha! Pass me another slice!"
HOST: "Here you go! Have a pop too."
PIZZA EATER: "The pop is the best part."
How about it, could you forward this to the person in charge of local programming? I love ROGERS TELEVISION, but I know it could be better with these shows airing. And don't even get me started on the possibilities for extending the FIRST ANNUAL ROGERS TELEVISION HOLIDAY PIZZA PARTY brand beyond just Christmas and into Easter, Canada Day, Halloween and my birthday.
Thanks,
Andrew

I will update my diary with air dates when they inevitably write back and hook me up.
